Ty so far

Looking back back on Ty I just realized that we have done loads! From Carlingford to work experience I think the best thing about Ty is getting out of our normal rueteens. After third year I definitely needed a break! I loved meeting new people in work experience and also going out side my comfort zone. After working in Peamount hospital I think that I would love to do nursing. Carlingford was amazing and all of the little trips that we have done this year have been great too. I especially enjoyed the time that we got caught in Dublin after the holy days collection because the water charge protest was on which was funny. There are days when you really just want to get the leaving  cert over with and move on though. I think i'm definitely ready to go into fifth year even though i'm not too sure if i'm ready for all the work after spening this year taking it easy:/. Another thing that I enjoyed about Ty is all the free time after school to spend doing things like camogie or swimming or sleeping and i'm not going to enjoy having to give up some things because of study. Overall i did enjoy Ty and when you think back to everything we've done you realize that even we really crammed a lot into the year even though some days were very boring we still did do a lot.

                                                  Drumming workshop
Last Thursday everyone took part in a drumming workshop. A man came into our school to teach us how to use these special African drums. He said that he had lived in Africa for a while to study the instrument. We spent the day learning different rhythms and learning more about the culture in Africa. He showed us videos about Africa and told us stories about what he did when he was there. He also spent a lot of time telling us about all of the different places he had been to when travelling which was really interesting. At the end of the day we all came up with our own rhythms in groups and preformed them to the rest of the class. We all really enjoyed the drumming workshop it made us all really want to travel and I definitely learnt a lot about Africa and the culture there and of how much drumming means to them as it was preformed by their ancestors. Although they probably gave everyone else in the school a headache we loved trying to make music with the drums.

                                          Ruling the world at Wesley
On Friday i went on a trip with the school choir to Wesley collage for a choir competition. We would be singing 'Rule the world' by Take That. Everyone was very excited on the way there. We found out when we got there that were to be preforming first! We practiced our song a few times before taking a break before the show. We all went straight to the cafeteria where we had the nicest chocolate chip cookies before going to get ready to go on stage. The performance went well but after we watched the other choirs and found out that they had been practicing every day a week we were all very nervous. In the end we didn't win but we got 85 points out of 100 so we were happy with that.
